DIY TASSEL EARRINGS

Hello my lovely readers 🙂 How’s everything going?

Today I want to share with you a really easy and inexpensive DIY. Right now tassel earrings are on fashion and I love them because they are huge but they are not heavy. But when I went to the store to buy them, it’s price was around 10€, so I thought to myself, I bet I can make them on my own. So here we are, today I’m going to share with you how to make tassel earrings.

All you are going to need is some thread, a ruler or something similar to wrap the thread around and two earrings closures.

The first thing you have to do is wrap the thread around the ruler. The number of times you have to wrap it around depends on how thick your thread is. Since my thread was quite thick I had to wrap it around 100 times, but if you have a thinner thread you’ll probably need to do it around 200 times.

Then, on the centre of one side of the ruler. Take a double thread and with the help of a needle, wrap it around twice and make a knot, as you can see in the picture below.

Then, slide it out of the ruler and cut the loop on the oposite side of the knot we just made.

Then taking a single thread make some knots at the end of it. After that, slide it trough the top part, where we had done the first knot and wrap it a few times around the top part. Finally pass the thread under what we just wrapped make a knot, as you can see in the picture below, and you have you finished your first tassel.

I decided to make my earring with two tassels on each of them, but you can put as many as you like. You can also use different coloured tassels if you wish.

Once you have made all your tassels, make a double thread and knot it at the end around three times so the tassel doesn’t slide through it. Then open the tassel threads and pass the double thread through the top of the tassel. Afterwards with the thread make three knots 1 cm away from the top part of the tassel, as you can see in the image beneath. Finally slide the double thread through the top part of the other tassel.

Finally on the top part of the last tassel create a small loop. I decided to use silver earring closures, I choose these ones because the ones that have nickel give me allergies. And that’s it! You have your personalised tassel earrings!

Do you like the thread earring trend? Have you recently done any DIY?
