DIY CHOKERS

Hello my lovely readers πŸ™‚ How’s everything going?

The 90’s are back and one of my favourite 90’s trends are chokers.Β Today, I want to share with you, some easy DIY choker necklaces. They are really fun to make and I only used materials that I already had at home.

VELVET CHOKER

Velvet is really on fashion this season, specially this velvet chokers. For making the first choker, all you will need is some velvet fabric, two black clasps and if you want a small cute choker.

The first thing you must do, is to measure your neck. Cut a strip that’s 1,5 cm wide and a bit longer than your neck length.

Once you cut the strip, sew with black thread each side of the clasp on each side of the strip. It’s really easy to sew this clasps. Anyway if you don’t feel like sewing you can always glue it with a fabric glue.

Finally just sew whatever cute charm you like. I decided to add a small D after “Darly”. This way you get a super inexpensive chocker that is really on fashion.

BEAD CHOCKER

Making this choker took me back to when I was a child and I used to make bead jewellery all the time. I find it really relaxing and entertaining. For making this design you’ll need to use long silver beads and white rounded beads. You’ll also need some invisible thread. Start by cutting a long piece of the thread and folding it by half. Create a loop making a couple of nods, as you can see in the picture below.

Then insert both of the threads through one white bead. On each thread insert a long bead, a rounded bead and another long bead. Finally take one white bead and insert one thread by each side and pull. You can see the technique in the picture below (I’m sorry it’s blurry). This way you’ll create a rombus.

Once you’re happy with the length make a lot on nods in the end. One nod over the other one until it’s thick enough to be hold by the loop we’ve had created at the beginning. You can also use a clasp if you prefer.Β Β I thinks this chocker looks quite girly and elegant.

RIBBON CHOKER

This is a super simple choker, but I think it looks really girly and cute. All you need is some ribbon in the colour of your choice. Then tie it around the neck creating a bow and that’s it. I like this choker becuse it has a kind of parisian style.

  1. β€žMade in Czechoslovakiaβ€œ daaaaamn πŸ˜€ Those were the real deal.. they don’t move πŸ™‚

Nice idea with the chokers. I’ve made some of my own and I was looking for them but I couldn’t find buttons like that anymore so I had to use some of that two pieced tape with one smooth side and one β€žcatchyβ€œ side.

    Have a nice day.
